USA Today and Park World Magazine named the Alpine Coaster one of the 10 Best Roller Coaster Rides of Your Life. Think of everything you love about roller coasters—the exhilarating speed, racing around tight turns, flying over bumps and waves. Now imagine that you are in full control of your speed, you are riding alone or with a friend and cruising down an alpine slope surrounded by Colorado’s gorgeous scenery.

The Alpine Coaster will race you down 3,400 feet of track until you gradually come to a gentle stop. While you are pulled back up the 1,000 feet to the starting point. On the return, relax, enjoy the surrounding wildflowers and think about your next rip-roaring trip down the mountain!

The fun is locked in

Unlike an alpine slide, you can’t fall out of the Alpine Coaster. Cars are affixed to the track and the ride is designed to take the tightest hair-pin turns at full speed. If you prefer a slower speed, just ease up on the throttle. Due its track system, the Alpine Coaster is able to operate year-round. Try it in winter when the mountainside is bedecked with snow and the rails are lit with thousands of fairy lights. It’s magical!

Fun Fact

The Alpine Coaster was the first ride to be installed at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. It came about because cave tours were becoming increasingly popular. Due to long lines for the tours, park owners Steve and Jeanne Beckley thought it would be a good idea to give guests something fun to do while they waited. Turns out it was great idea! The Alpine Coaster opened in 2005 and remains a top-rated ride among park visitors.
