The Tastes of Bavaria

Octoberfest at Glenwood Caverns wouldn’t be complete without mouthwatering Bavarian treats of all sorts to look forward to. This year’s beer garden and food offerings are packed with all the flavorful options you’d expect. One bite or swig is all it takes to transport you straight to the heart of Munich. Highlights include:

  • Cold beer in a glass stein at OctoberfestBeer Garden. Prost! Octoberfest is a beer-centric festival. Enjoy seasonal, craft-brewed beer with your souvenir Octoberfest mug ($25) ready to be filled and refilled ($10). The easy-to-spot beer garden located adjacent to the Smokehouse restaurant is the place to go for premium pours on tap. With a cold one in hand, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to raise a toast or two with fellow party-goers.
  • Giant Pretzels with Beer Cheese. Soft, warm, and oversized, these pretzels are perfect for sharing—or not! Dip them in tangy mustard or creamy beer cheese for an experience that will have you exclaiming “wunderbar,” like a German native.
  • German Sausage Sandwich with Sauerkraut & Fries. Nothing says “Taste of Germany” like a juicy sausage grilled to perfection from the Smokehouse and topped with a hefty pile of sauerkraut, served on a fresh roll.
  • Beer Cheese Burgers. Elevate your burger experience with a pretzel bun and a generous slathering of beer cheese. It’s the ultimate New World/Old World flavor combo—delicious American and Bavarian comfort food!

Polka, Competitions & More

Octoberfest at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is not all about food and drink however—it’s also packed with activities to get you moving, laughing, and competing in good-natured German style. Whether you’re in the mood to polka or test your strength, there’s something for everyone.

  • Alpine Echo Band. Dance to traditional oompah music performed by the local Alpine Echo Band. Their setlist includes everything from beer-drinking ballads to rousing polkas and waltzes, all guaranteed to keep your face smiling and your feet moving.
  • Axe Throwing. Test your aim and precision with this age-old competition—a fun way to channel your inner Bavarian lumberjack!
  • Hammerschlagen. Speed and accuracy are the name of the game when it comes to driving nails into a block of wood with a hammer.
  • Keg Bowling. Keg bowling is just as fun (and challenging) as it sounds! Roll your way to victory and knock over the keg-shaped pins.
  • Stein-Holding Competition. Strong arm the competition in this traditional Oktoberfest contest. It’s harder than it looks, and always a crowd favorite.

Family Fun for Everyone

Octoberfest at Glenwood Caverns is also a family-friendly event, with plenty of activities to keep the little ones entertained with fall-themed things-to-do.

  • Octoberfest is for kids too!Face Painting. Let the kids pick out their favorite design and watch in wonder as a little face paint transforms children into butterflies, animals, and magical creatures. They’ll be delighted, and so will you!
  • Pumpkin Patch. Just in time for Halloween celebrations later in the month, let kids loose to choose their own special pumpkins ($7). Picking the perfect pumpkin is a mission that kids are uniquely suited for.
  • Caricatures. Capture the memories with a personalized caricature—a unique keepsake from your Octoberfest adventure.
