Glenwood Gondola Weather Policy
The Glenwood Gondola
provides transportation to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park with breathtaking views of the town of Glenwood Springs, Mount Sopris and the confluence of the Colorado and the Roaring Fork Rivers.
The Weather
in the Rocky Mountains can change quickly. In the Spring and Summer months it is not uncommon to experience afternoon thunderstorms which bring wind and lightning.
If we experience high winds or lightning
in close proximity, the Glenwood Gondola will slow down and sometimes stop. We may also close the gondola for a period of time until the storm has passed. Typically, these storms pass quickly, usually in about 45-90 minutes. We will resume loading the gondola as soon as the storm passes.
Please plan accordingly
for these delays as there is no alternate means of transportation.

- This was even better than I imagined it would be! To be honest, I thought the price seemed a little steep for what I expected to find. We ended up loving it so much we went twice. The views are incredible, the caves are gorgeous and have great guides, and the rides are SO fun! A perfect day of fun for the family. Get there early before it heats up, the lines are shorter too!read moreread lessBrynn Hodges12/11/2024This is an absolute must!
The best experience I’ve ever had. Arriving you get your tickets and bracelet at the bottom, and the only way up and down the mountain is by gondola. The ticket purchased gets you access to everything from the rides to the cave tours. The food, and gift shop are not included.
This was my first time in a gondola 🚠and it wasn’t scary at all (Especially being slightly afraid of heights).
A friend that rode up, and down with me is tremendously afraid of heights but he managed by just looking straight ahead, and not looking 👀 down. Once you arrive the parks open to you! They have rides, food, seating areas, and a gift shop. All of the staff for the rides were friendly, and very easy going. They made the scary rides fun! They have a few rides such as the alpine coaster, giant canyon swing, zip ride (last year), defiance coaster, Glenwood canyon flyer and many others. They do ask that you leave your belongings such as bags, and water bottles in the designated areas before getting on the rides. The alpine coasters I self controlled on the track as you go down the mountain and enjoy the scenery. It is a solo ride unless you have a little one that can ride with 1 adult. The instructors for the ride are great, and ensure your safety! The track brings you back up the mountain. The zip line was so much fun. This is the last year they will have this ride unfortunately so I had to take advantage as it was another first for me. The giant canyon swing was one that I did not anticipate would be scary, but it TOTALLY WAS! I rode it twice thinking sitting on the opposite side would make it better it didn’t. It was worth it though! I’d do it again in a heartbeat! The defiance coaster was sooooo much fun! 🤩 The ride up makes your heart start racing and as you get the the tip top you over seen all the mountains and then YOU DROP STRAIGHT DOWN! The ride isn’t very long, and goes by fast! 💨
Last but not least was the glenwood canyon swing which is 10 times crazier than the six flags swings, because it’s on the edge of the mountain. They have cave tours at certain times throughout the park hours which are very interesting, worth seeing. You have got to make the drive out from Denver. It’s about 3 hours from Denver, and the views are spectacular driving during the day.read moreread lessPriscilla Casares12/10/2024Last month my family went to Glenwood Springs for our Fall Break. My friend had recently went there and after seeing how much fun her family had at this amusement park, I knew my boys would want to check it out.
There aren't that many rides but the ones they do have are pretty great. Their newest coaster is the first thing you see once you start getting a view of the park from the cable car. It's called the Defiance Coaster-- the website says it's a record-breaking 102.3 degree freefall. We ride it twice. It was crazy fun. The other coaster is called The Cliffhanger--North America's highest coaster at 7,160 feet. The Giant Canyon Swing just about made me faint- swinging out over the canyon. You must go watch your video after you ride it!
There were also two cave tours that came with admission: Fairy Caves and King's Row. We were surprised to learn both were 40 mins each! The cave tour guides were great! Lots of info and also quite funny. Both were worth visiting because they special and interesting in their own ways. I really like both of these tours. Do not skip one thinking they are the same!
Sadly the park closes early at 5. The sun had not even set yet. That was our only disappointment. However we timed things right and were able to ride all the rides (except one kiddie ride). Also- apparently this park is open year round!read moreread lessSharon N12/06/2024 - Such a cool place! Between the caves and the amusement park, I was amazed. The views from on top of the mountain were spectacular, along with the quaint feeling the park has, it is a must visit! We will definitely visit again.read moreread lessShad Hardy12/05/2024The only mountain top amusement park?!? YES WE WILL GO! My family went to Glenwood Springs for Fall Break last month for a little getaway. We were disappointed it was too cold for rafting but the amusement park on top of the mountain was the highlight of the trip! There are only a handful of rides but just getting to the top was fun! some swung up over the cliff side and really freaked out my wife! Their first roller coaster went up a 90 degree angle and then straight drop down. Wow. All on the cliffside.
Another fun surprise was the cave tours. We were happy to find out they were actually 40 mins long! Now that's a tour! And both were different from each other so you must go to both. The guides were funny and gave really good facts on the caves and how the park came about.
I highly recommend coming to Glenwood Springs-- even if it's just for a day to visit this park.read moreread lessJoe N.11/24/2024
